(Application = Gen-1 SBC 350, 1978 Blazer) This was my first car rear main seal repair and ended up being a much simpler and easier repair than I expected; The old gasket was released by gently pressing with a small screwdriver and needle nose pliers (don't touch the crank!). I was able to fit a new gasket with the shoehorn, but the lip of the block sheared off the back of the gasket slightly - I highly recommend deburring this lip before you start installing the gasket around the crank into the block. I used dish soap on the back and engine oil on the crank side for lubrication. The hardest part of the whole job was accessing the compressor and reinstalling the sump.
