Review on πŸ’ͺ Corsair SF450: High-Performance 450W SFX Power Supply - 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular by Mark Green

Exceptional Quality

I was excited to hear that Seasonic released SFX power supplies for SFFPC. But after reading the early reviews from several reputable reviewers, I was disappointed that Seasonic seemed to have rushed to market their SFX products. I was particularly struck by the relatively poor build quality inside the power supply, which I may be exaggerating a bit. How carefully, obsessively and compulsively a typical factory worker spends time assembling a typical device, how he lavishes love on the innards of a power supply, that will probably never be seen again tells me a lot about how likely it is that there will be a power outage in the next 10 years? Because every soldering point, every connection, every connection work - all of this not only influences daily productivity, but also the probability of failure. So when I saw the innards of Seasonic compared to these Corsair SF750s in particular (also SF600) I was 100% blown away. Corsair wins unconditionally. The interior is built with beauty and pride and will last for decades. When I finally opened up my SF750 and SF600 everything was beautiful. It's especially important to note that the SF750's cables are made from ultra-thin, full-length, but shorter-length, braided nylon materials, allowing for nice cable routing in tight spaces. All SFX power supply cables must be routed this way as it is of utmost importance to us, SFFPC assembler. Note that the included cables for the SF750 save you another $55-$100 on custom cables, so it's totally worth the price.

Pros
  • 100% Japanese Electrolytic Capacitors 105: High-quality internal components ensure stable power supply and long-term reliability
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
