I bought a cheap 6 inch tablet from Samsung to run the Navionics swim app. It won't fit. The X grip for phones fits for Samsung. However, it works well for the iPad mini. I keep my iPad mini in a flip case. There is enough space to open the cover and insert it into this bracket. There's a slight wobble in the sense that I can shake it and it will rock back and forth a bit, but it doesn't seem in any danger of falling out. If that becomes an issue, I have a feeling a small bump on the foam on the back of the mount will tighten things up nicely. If you look at the mount, it looks vertically symmetrical. However, there is a defined top and bottom where most of the mount attaches to the ball mount and the top slides in and out to hold the tablet. Make sure you have a mount so the springy, expandable part is on top so the weight of the tablet doesn't try to open the jaws.
