I used the original socks that came with my sump and they worked most of the time, but I never got the water as clean as I wanted. There have always been very fine suspended particles. I switched to 100 microns from Aquatic Experts and Boom! Crystal clear, polished water almost instantly. I was skeptical that new socks clog quickly, but this is not the case. I have a 60 gallon cube with a 15 gallon sump and I change my socks about every two weeks or so and you can probably last a month or more NP depending on your conditions. They are just as easy to care for as my originals and seem to be a little more durable. I really want to try the 200 micron I bought. Thank you Aquatic Experts for a crystal clear aquarium.
