I'm 5'6", weigh 173 pounds and have a fairly heavy hourglass bottom. I bought size XL. These pants have quickly become my favourite. I threw away most of my old leggings and bought two more of these. I'm always skeptical of ads promoting high waists. The waist actually goes past my belly button, so the tops of my thighs almost touch my lower back.
