Review on πŸ”¬ Hanna Instruments HI98103 Checker pH Tester: Reliable and Accurate Testing with Ph Electrode and Batteries by Charles Lewellen

Overpriced Very Poor Quality

This is junk like all the other cheap markers I've found. Sure he checks the pH (if you believe it, but why would you?) but buy the solutions you want - and he thinks you need 4, one to clean, one to store, one for 4.0 and one for 7.0 calibration. - and batteries - which you'll need if you're thinking of turning them off, apparently the auto-off feature that most of these things have is too expensive for Hanna to turn on at that price - and you've got $80 including of the price issued counter at 35 dollars. For $80 you'd think you could expect over 56 days of use from this thing, which is what I got. I clean it every time I use it. I calibrate it once a week with solutions 4.0 and 7.0. I clean it with a cleaning solution every time I use it. I keep it with a few drops of storage solution every time I use it. He died yesterday, 9 weeks after giving birth. A previous Hanna Instruments test pen, H199104, that I bought, with the same treatment as above, lasted 82 days when it died quietly and refused to be recalibrated, just like this one. This is an unacceptable lifespan for a well cared for product. Not even close. The one I bought before was ETekcity which cost $18 and took 76 days. If that's all you get from a PH stylus, why on earth would you spend the extra money on a Hanna Instruments stylus with exactly the same lifespan?

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
