Good sturdy wheel. If you want the wheel to rotate 360 degrees and not get stuck in the gate, you should install it about 6 inches from the fence. I used a 6X6 post about 10 inches long that was bolted to the outside of my existing wooden gates. You'll need a long drill if going through 6" lumber plus existing gate wood. To keep the tire on the ground when driving over bumps, you need some spring pressure when adjusting. Mine worked best when I made a smooth surface for the tire to ride on. The bracket has 6 pre-drilled 3/8" holes for mounting so you can use screws or bolts all the way through the gate, 6x6 and wood fence depending on the gate you are mounting to. Screws or bolts for mounting are not included and no instructions are included. Outside the gate it can become a stepping stone and make it easier for someone to get over the fence. Rubber degrades with age, so shade from the sun may be necessary when placing.
