I bought this last year to hike the dog in cold weather. It was fine for short walks, but the synthetic fabric got sticky and damp from breath condensation pretty quickly. However, in the age of Covid it has found a new life! I find that PM2.5 ("procedural") masks don't fit me well enough (they aren't designed to filter the incoming air; mostly as a sneeze/cough guard, so they don't fit snugly). Because I had trouble breathing and don't have much N95, I wore this to a PM2.5 once. works perfectly! This helps the PM2.5 stay on my face better and adds an extra layer of washable filtration while still being reasonably breathable. (The combo is very similar to the N95.) Personally, I wouldn't count on this being the only layer of the mask, but it's pretty tight-knit and I'm willing to bet it's a lot better than a headscarf. Yes, it's hot in the summer, but not unbearable, and the "cool factor" is well worth it.
