I was having trouble with the video circuitry in my outdated Onkyo receiver; the picture appeared and disappeared after a few minutes of viewing. Despite not being in the case, the amp section always felt quite hot. (I blame cats for routinely sleeping on them when they get cold when I'm not around and stuffing them with fur.) This fan was my inexpensive solution. I plugged it into the USB port on the front of the receiver and placed it fan side up over the amp section (pulling cold air into the receiver from the side and back above the amp section and blowing hot air out of the receiver). . ) and the problem is gone. The USB port is powered even when the receiver is off, so the fan runs continuously. I can only say that because the blades are moving; it's so quiet
