What a Dream - Camera Lenses

With the introduction of the Mark II, the price of this lens has fallen dramatically in recent years. At $999, this lens is a lot more affordable for consumers (like me). This lens has always been my dream since I started photography four years ago. Now that I have it, I no longer need another lens with the same focal length. It is incredibly sharp and gives colors like in a dream. Bokeh divine. A small amount of CA is present in high contrast situations, but this can usually be corrected in post-processing. Minimal distortion and controlled vignetting. Many of you looking at this lens will compare it to the Sigma Art. Yes, now they cost almost the same. Yes, Sigma is optically better. But Sigma doesn't render colors and tones like Canon. Sigma won't last you 30 years like this lens. Sigma will not have the same support staff that supports it. And finally Sigma. It's not canon. If you have any doubts about buying a Canon 35mm f/2 IS, give it some thought. If you use 35mm from time to time, buy f/2. If 35mm is your primary focal length, save up for it. You will be grateful later. If you're considering buying a Mark II, unless you're a full-time pro looking for the very best, buy this one instead and use the rest of the money on other glass.
