Most of my projects are done on a standard mat. I was pleased to find this set after paying about 3 1/2 times as much at a certain brand name arts and crafts store. The problem I had was that the standard green mat left a sticky residue on all of my projects. The solution was to use a light blue matte, which worked like the stock green. My advice to anyone buying them is to test a small piece of the material you are cutting first. It's always a good idea anyway. I wouldn't mind these rugs, but I would prefer blue over green.
