Although I've only been using it online for a little over a week and haven't fully tried it out yet, I've probably come to some conclusions that it won't change. My first impression was that this player produces a very high quality sound and the build quality is also good. I read an answer to a Revain question where a customer confirmed that the front panel of the DNP-800NE is made of plastic. To me that would in itself be a breach of contract, indicating the equity of the Assembly. I went to the Denon website where the specs said the faceplate was indeed aluminum which is certainly more trustworthy than Revain customers and it is indeed aluminum NOT plastic. (Why wouldn't someone contact the manufacturer before asking any passer-by, that's beyond me, but I guess it's just me and my need for facts, not speculation.) Also, this player's case isn't the player itself , but the HEOS app. , and this is an extremely limited use for smartphones only. It's also just about me and the fact that I don't really consider or use a smartphone as part of my home AV system and I don't like being forced to use it now that this HEOS app cannot be used. on PC or Smart TV (at least not on my Sony Android TV). So now you have to fiddle with your smartphone like in the bad old days of multiple remote controls! So let's the developers and manufacturers, if it really is a choice, why not run this type of home AV component. with an app that can be used in the same AV system? What could have been 5 stars for the Denon DNP-800NE became 4 not because of its hardware, but because of the limitations we are bound to operate it. This will of course change as the HEOS app is developed for smart TVs and/or PCs to control the DNP-800NE.
