I love that this set has a cutting board that is as easy to clean as a cutting tool. The blade is sharp so you don't have to worry about cutting yourself. The handle is comfortable to grip with hands suffering from arthritis. The plastic handle is slightly textured for a secure grip even with wet hands. I can't say if that's the same for people with big hands. Seems more suitable for people with medium or small hands. With arthritis, you don't want to stick your hands in small holes - I'm sure anyone who tries to use scissors will understand that. Everywhere is the scenario I picture when I think of using a flimsy protector. If you're sure you have very strong hands, go for it. But don't say you weren't warned. My ears are not hurt by shouting and swearing.
