First of all I love this product. I was looking for a closet with a key and lock so the kids wouldn't play with my stuff. After some research I came across this product and ordered it. I have to say that it really works as advertised and then some. I installed this in a box and it worked beautifully. It is strong enough to withstand sudden and violent burglary attempts by children. While I mentioned durability, the included screws will eventually fail over time as they are really small and flimsy. I think they would eventually give up without even listening to the kids. This can easily be attached with some better quality screws at the end like I did. Sometimes it stutters and says it's open but still stays closed, which is easily fixed by trying to open it again after the timer has expired. On the plus side, if you're concerned that the surface thickness might interfere with the signal, don't worry. The box I installed is also about an inch and a half thick. I use an RFID card that sits between my phone and the phone case and I have no problem opening the RFID card. Overall this product is great and very much worth buying.
