When I bought my car there was only one key. Having a spare key is very important, so I decided to make one. First, a local Toyota dealer told me it would cost over $300 to duplicate a key. It seemed extreme so I went online to look for options. I saw that I could buy a key online for $20-$40 and then take it to a local locksmith to have the key cut and programmed. I used a company in Phoenix called ACME and they cut my $4 key and programmed it for $69. My grand total was less than $100 to have a duplicate key. Recommendation: I recommend that you contact your local locksmith first. Find out their price and if they can do it. Then order the right key online based on their recommendations. I confirmed it was the correct key for the 2018 4Runner simply by comparing the key's model number to the model number listed on the locksmith's website for my car (the locksmith sold the same key for $60). Saved 200β¬ and got a spare part. Key. I used the spare key on the way home and it worked great. Definitely worth it.
