Terrible product and customer service *updated*

I rarely write negative reviews, and in fact I almost never write reviews, but it was just an awful experience. I bought two of these and both died within a month, just over a year after purchase. They just didn't turn on at all. The warranty was supposed to be three years, so I called. The customer service rep I spoke to seemed to be trying to find every reason not to void the warranty. He asked me all sorts of questions about how I use the item and concluded that because I used it once in the bathroom and because I used it with a surge protector it wouldn't live up to the warranty. When I told him it was completely ridiculous, he very condescendingly told me that he would offer me a one time replacement. I'm not used to being treated like this, so I disconnected the phone. I wasn't sure I wanted to deal with replacing them from such a company. It's a shame I just didn't stop there. A few months later, still within the three year warranty period, I decided to give them another chance. I called back and this time I was on hold for over an hour. When the customer service rep finally answered she knew who I was and oddly put me on hold to speak to the previous person I spoke to about it. She then informed me of all the tires I would have to go through to replace them, still under the 'generous' guise of a one time replacement as it seems impossible not to void their warranty. To get a replacement I had to cut off both power cords and send them in. She sternly informed me that if they got lost in the mail it would be my fault. She reprimanded me again for not honoring the guarantee afterwards, presumably for the reasons previously stated. So now I have to pay for the shipping of these parts with my own pennies, and it's only after I've received these Lasko power cords that I HOPE to finally be able to redeem the warranty. Who knows how many months it may be before you get a replacement. At this expense, I recommend buying heaters elsewhere. Avoid Lasko at all costs. I will try to update if/when I get a replacement. ***Update*** I have upgraded my rating from one star to three stars as I received the replacement around 2-3 weeks after the cut cables were shipped. So far, the replacement devices have worked flawlessly. I still wouldn't buy this again knowing the customer service and how quickly they both died within a month. I hope this review was helpful.
