I looked for bread slicers for a long time before finally deciding on this one. I looked at the size, the price, the blade, the performance. and customer reviews. I needed one to cut bread without distorting the slices. This machine does that very well. I used to work in a deli and am familiar with commercial slicers so I'm comparing that experience to this one. As they clearly state; This is for home use only. I call OSTBA my slicer mini-me. It's very light and compact, which makes it great for handling and storage, and also keeps it secure on the counter. Of course, the 200W version seems to have enough power for bread and probably other dishes as well, as long as you let the very sharp serrated blade do the work and follow the recommendations for cooking vegetables, meat and cheese (in the fridge and in the fridge). . /or almost frozen for the last two). The food pusher is a bit flimsy and definitely brittle and doesn't fix the product very well unless you make sure the prongs are in your food product (hard crust bread this is a bit of an issue) and you don't put it provide an even, firm pressure when feeding. While I have no personal experience with this I think I can see how it is possible to mangle meat (especially) in this cut without the proper care as I seem to have seen in some of the negative reviews. For my purposes, it cleans up fairly easily. The slice width slider is a little tricky to turn but doable and certainly doesn't slip while slicing. I think for the price this is a good slicer and if you treat it with care and respect; This should save you time on small food processing tasks. I would not recommend this slicer for large meat projects.
