After using them for a while I look back at the reviews and just shake my head. How do people give them a bad rating because they think they are temporary and have settled in too well? They are also advertised. I use them on my closet door which has a textured surface (not smooth) to hang hats on. I wiped the surface with alcohol and carefully glued the hooks in place. Glued immediately and you can see the contact with the surface through the clear base. I love how smooth and rounded the wooden pins are so they don't warp the hat like a sharp hook would. I also like that the pins have metal inserts that screw onto the base stud. Much stronger than just glued to the base. In general I am very happy with them. Just note that they are advertised as HATHOOKS and never mention that they are temporary or movable. If you try to hold on to something heavier than a hat or try to move it, it's your fault, not the catch.
