Track lights on 10ft flat floodlight styles aren't a big problem with this or any other suction device, but regular incandescent bulbs are are my problem. I'm glad I read the reviews because it helped a lot - I use a damp cloth to dampen part of the cup (red) and it holds up well to my own pole, but the design is neat, pull it down slightly and the unit's valve releases suction for easy tool removal. Same for installation. NOW I look forward to not using the stairs and dare to use one of these lightbulbs. go outside - I have it now, some have said that with your own stick, the screw on the handle is sometimes loosened. I haven't had this problem, my bulbs aren't very tight enough to turn on and a little more---not too tight
