Review on Timbuk2 Blink Pack Black Size: Your Perfect Travel Companion by Andrew Hare

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The sleek looks but odd bag design keeps this run from being a home run

I bought this on the spur of the moment from Treasure Truck for two reasons: 1) my previous laptop backpack was torn and 2) I had seen the Timbuk2 stored in the backpack before and thought they looked great. This bag definitely looks classy and well built, but it's an odd cross between a computer case and a suitcase. The main compartment opens fully (like a suitcase), which is handy when packing clothes or books, but it's a little awkward when trying to get to some things below when you're at a coffee shop and want to get dressed not that your underwear falls out of the pocket. The back sleeve is designed to hold your laptop, but it's tight (I use a 13-inch Surface book and getting it in and out of the sleeve is a two-handed task). ) And when you have stuff in that clamshell main compartment, it essentially kills the rear compartment shared with the laptop compartment - it's too narrow to slip a Power Brick in and too deep for small items to end up out of reach could go down. Overall, this is a decent bag for its size and style, but Timbuk2 probably has more functional bags in their catalogue.
