Ford did it again, I had a 2014 Ford Focus and now I have a 2015 Escape and the cabin air filter is in just the right place. Inside the front fairing, which is only accessible from the passenger footwell. You'll need a T25 or 27 Torx bit, the ability to lie on your stomach halfway from the car, and patience. The stealership charged $45 for the job, but for a $10 filter, I'd rather do it myself. There are at least 2 latches that hold the lid under the passenger's glove box and then lie toward the center of the vehicle in the passenger's footwell. You will use a flashlight to see a single torx screw, then press the locking latch and remove the cover. Then you have to pinch the filter in the middle (like a fan) when it comes out. You will then need to roll up the new filter to insert it into the filter housing. Then mount the cover, Torx screw and footwell cover with clamps, done! Now you can breathe that fresh air!
