We got them about 6 months ago and 90% of them are still effective. Unfortunately 2 of them (I bought several) don't work, allowing my little monster to access the uncharted depths of the closet. What happened was the glue on the "top" of the cabinet, the part that attaches the latch anchor, came loose. This was mainly because the family came on holiday without knowing how the system worked and with more force when my child pulled on the doors. (Because why won't the floor to ceiling closets open in a house with an 8 month old baby? *sigh* in-laws) The reason for this is a design flaw and not just human error (although there are some). because the glue runs "deep" along the anchor and the edge of the cabinet it's attached to isn't very deep either, resulting in only 1/3 to 1/2 of the glue actually sticking. It should be perpendicular to the latch so more glue can be applied. hold tight. I feel it necessary to say that to solve this problem I could think ahead and manually install the locks to stay open until my family arrives and just keep the kid out of the kitchen. However, I give a minus star because the glue still has to work properly. I still like these kids locks more than other kids locks I've seen and will be buying more to replace the ones that didn't make it through the holidays. I'd advise keeping a few spares on hand and making sure anyone climbing into cabinets knows how to open them. They're not as intuitive as other locks, but they're effective against young children, not relatives. Extremely easy to install. Easy to open with a magnetic key. Versatile as it can be locked with a switch when the closets get heavy use without children. I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could.
