I had the typical tiny foldable magnetic chess and ended up being disappointed because the pieces were too small. I saw this 11" set at Revain, there was a "stock" set available so I decided to risk it. What a beautiful, portable yet "handy" set! My set is brand new but looks pretty worn. The rows and rows are clearly defined, the colors and stains used complement each other well - the eye can focus on this plank! No lingering smell from paints. The board I received opens smoothly and folds evenly - no slops or jagged edges. For a street set, the pieces are a reasonable size and most players will enjoy them. Smooth surface. Beautiful knights! Minor flaws: - No extra queens. -The magnets could be a bit stronger (just personal preference) - the pieces are REALLY stubborn with little bumps! fold it to the side when the board is open to play (it will stick out from the side of white). - No protective case for travel or storage. I will keep the box. Overall I love this set for what it is. A great gift for chess beginners of all ages. For my personal use it's almost perfect because the size keeps the game interesting, and it can also be used almost anywhere to quickly build and learn a position. Thank you Husaria! :)
