5/16 threads not standard

I used these to build a ski rack for my car. They work well and hold just fine but the 5/16” threaded inserts are not quite right. Very hard to screw a 5/16 bolt into the threads. I had to insert and remove and insert and remove the bolts until I could fully seat the bolts. Something else with 1/4” threads might be better.

Pros

Great product, does the job well and it's exactly what I wanted to use.

Cons

The mounting tool can be cumbersome to carry around, taking up valuable space in photography equipment bags

 I am definitely using this for an unintended purpose. However, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I am using it to sand smaller objects that are hard to hold. Instead of cramping up my hands and sanding off my fingertips, this suction cup has a nice handle to hold onto, and works extremely well grabbing and releasing the objects that I''m sanding. Highly satisfied. Will buy again.
