This whole Miller dowel is a very cool idea. Makes the dowel very light. Miller's dowels are very easy to insert into the dowel holes without the need to hammer the dowel and possibly flare it out. Dowels look more professional and usually hold up better than dowels or nails. Now that I have this set of Miller dowels, I will be using the dowels a lot more often. However, the dowels themselves are slightly more expensive compared to other fasteners. If you've never worked with dowels before, I also recommend getting a dovetail saw (or other saw with teeth on only one side of the blade) since you'll need to cut and sand the dowel once it's installed. The chisel runs the risk of ripping out a piece of dowel from under the work surface and grinding will be slow. The dovetail saw can cut the dowel without damaging the surface, greatly reducing the grinding time. Also, the drill may wander a little without a drill or guide. If you use a portable hand drill, piloting with a small drill will likely help a lot.
