This is my second Ultrabase purchase from Anycubic. I liked the first bed so much that after accidentally damaging the first one, I didn't even hesitate and ordered a replacement. I'll admit the first bed had a bit of a learning curve. You need to be at the right temperature, know when to clean with alcohol, when to clean with sandpaper. Since there is very little documentation for this product, you learn everything along the way. I was expecting the second one to be a replacement and I would type a few minutes after installing it. When my second one arrived, I immediately noticed a few differences: * The screws were shorter. That wasn't a problem, the first one had screws that were too long and I had to use spacers to raise the bed.* After removing the guard on the top of the bed, the top was covered in a sticky material. (More on that later.) The bed was easy to install - I crimped a few ends and ran wires to my mosfet. Hooked up the thermistor to my motherboard and it was my turn typing. It only took me 15 minutes to swap out the bed and most of the time was spent running the cables. With my previous Ultrabase I had perfect first layers. I didn't manage to glue anything with this new one, so I started the cleaning process I learned on the previous one. Step one, wipe with alcohol and a lint free cloth. the material on the top was starting to come loose, but most of it seemed to harden and looked like dust or lint on the bed. That gave me a good first layer, but not good enough, so I moved on to the second step. Step Two: Clean with 300-400 grit sandpaper. I pulled out the 300 grit sandpaper and started sanding. This turned the bed completely grey, which startled me the first time I made it on my previous bed. He removed a significant amount of sticky material, but only in the middle of the bed. The corners of the bed are still covered with that dried up thing (maybe glue from the protector?). After that I was able to get a great first coat of paint. Unfortunately part of the bed actually came off and stuck to my part! If you look at the picture I've attached you can see the white parts with a red border on the part where it comes off the bed. I waited for the bed to cool completely before removing the piece and it stuck very well. A piece of my previous bed fell off at 35 degrees - you could literally hear it coming loose from the bed. This new one just wouldn't let go and I had to use some force to remove it. At the moment I can't get a decent first coat again. Nothing sticks to me - I changed the temperature of the bed and plastic (PLA print, Revain Green in the photo) and nothing sticks. I'm not sure if my fight has anything to do with stickiness. Things like on the bed if I took the protector off or not but I'm not as happy with it as I was at first. I will update my review if anything changes.
