1. It is really beautiful 100% crystal not sure but may have some crystal as the texture and hue is higher than usual I held one of mine and noticed later with my fingertips that it was chipped. Due to the etching I missed this little chip. I also believe from experience that glass doesn't chip like that, if it was just glass the thing would have a microcrack and sharp edges, the chip was smooth and I needed a magnifying glass to really see it with all the diffraction of light. Second, I have used coasters for my crystal candle holders and recently discovered that they make a great lid for my coffee mug to keep it hot; fits perfectly. I will sand the edges and keep them to myself as they are beautiful and functional. Remember to check them carefully.
