SOLID Media RAID & Hub

I added 2 x 4TB* SanDISk SSDs with RAID 0 for 8TB and 2 x Seagate 8TB drives with RAID 0 for 16TB. SSDs achieve about 700/850 MB/s R/W respectively; and HD reach about 350/350 MB/s R/W. And with all the extra connections, I leave an old LACIE 8TB plugged in on the side to act as backup for the 8TB SSD RAID because while it was reliable, I wouldn't trust my photo and video libraries on RAID0 without a backup. The only problem is that one set of drives wakes other drives when they go to sleep - and I don't think SSDs sleep anyway, but they wake hard drives anyway - it's like having wayward siblings. This breaks the RAID and the operating system takes a minute to reassemble and remount the drives as their proper array. So on macOS I solved this problem by keeping the drives active all the time because they don't make much noise (and SSDs certainly don't). The SD card reader is an added bonus as the Mac Mini doesn't have memory card readers and will read my UHS. -II quite well and importing them into Lightroom or Photos before I can make coffee and set up a workflow. This also works from USB 3.1 Gen 1 at 5GB/s, but this will cut the speed of all your drives in half. - so why do it if it's not an emergency. It stays next to my desk, the fan whispering in the distance - but HD discs are louder than the fan when I'm reading or writing to that disc - so I never notice it. And that's what I wanted and got.
