Review on πŸ”’ Defender Security U 9517 Lock Back Plate, 3.5-Inch, Chrome Plated, Pack of 2 by Patrick Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I had no idea it was a thing, but I'm glad it is!

Recently our front door handle broke while the deadbolt was in the locked position. It was quite tragic as my husband is in a wheelchair and this is the only door available. πŸ™ After all my twitching, rocking, swearing, yelling at my dad (he was an integral part of me getting that damn bolt out) and swearing at that old house, I got that stupid bolt out. Unfortunately during my struggle with the bolt there was little damage where the tools pressed. The new door handle panel didn't quite cover this damage, so I googled "door handle panel extension" - I had no idea it was the original until "scary panel" turned up in a search. And, thank goodness, because I live in Texas and I didn't need a tiny gap for a local bug to pass through. These scar plates were perfect for my problem. They are easy to install and durable. They actually provide extra security by fortifying the area and closing the gap. I bought two sets - one for the door knob and one for the latch to make it look intentional. Now that I know scar plates are a thing I will definitely be buying more in the future if the need arises.

Pros
  • Replacement Parts for Lock
Cons
  • Slightly Cracked
