Very easy install. Yes, this device does not come with a fan, it is an optional extra as stated in the description. No thermostat (auto on/off function), it's Hi-Med-Low as stated in the product description. I find this unit to be perfect for my non-insulated 2 stall garage. I have plywood walls and ceiling and needed some warmth during the winter months when I wanted to work in the garage. On a 20 degree winter day this powerful heater heats my garage to a comfortable 50 degrees in about 1 hour which is comfortable for me to work with and as my garage is not insulated. I have decided not to purchase the add-on. Fan for the device based on the negative reviews of the product and the fact that when this device is hung on the wall there is almost no room for air to get behind the device and then blow it, which is why most people mine According to a say additional fan assembly does not move the air properly. I plan on maybe installing a small wall fan above the unit to move the warm air. I believe this will accelerate the warming and spread of heat. Overall, this works great in my garage even without the extra fan. Good warm heating, easy installation. Definitely recommend.
