update 1-25-21. Wanted to make fried potatoes. See drawing showing 314.8°F after 45 minutes set at 425°F. Another star away. It's so unfortunate. Money wasted on this machine. With the Instant Pot Aura, you can't count on precision. Stay away. Far, far away from this device. I bought an Instant Pot Aura to replace a slow cooker that had a lid seal. I'm just tired of messing around with the poetry. It was bulky and time consuming to wash, dry thoroughly and reattach. While it worked well, another issue was the shape of the pan, which was somewhat oval and quite restrictive in the selection of baking tins and pans that could fit. And it took a long time to warm up. This was probably due to the power of only 1300 watts. So my first impression of the aura was that the inner pot was rectangular in shape. (Much better than the oval one.) Some of my small to medium sized baking pans work well on this range. And bread pans without handles fit well. The first dish I cooked was a meatloaf in the bread pan shown in the photo. This particular loaf pan is a bit wider than usual, but there was still room in it. Cooked at 325°F for about 70 minutes to an internal temperature of 160°F. The results were excellent. The build quality of the Aura is solid and I appreciate the pot's ceramic coating. With 1500W of power, the Aura heats up quickly, both when sautéing onions for meatloaf and preheating for baking. Next comes fried chicken or banana bread. .UPDATE 9-11-20 If you're buying primarily for the slow cook program, you might want to reconsider. You can't just switch from high to low or vice versa while cooking. You have to cancel the program and when you start the cooker again it will stay at a very low temperature for a LONG time before going into the reset stage. This causes serious delays in meal planning and meal preparation schedules. I contacted IP support and here is their response: Thank you for contacting Instant Brands. One of the security features of Aura is that the control panel will be locked (locked) after the device starts up. This is to avoid accidental settings and prevent food from burning or program changes. The Aura's 'slow cooking' function is much lower and slower than a traditional slow cooker and this is because the heat only comes from the bottom of the unit, unlike traditional slow cookers which heat up from all sides . When preparing large meals, we recommend taking care to cook unfrozen foods and using at least 2 cups of thin, watery liquid to ensure even heat. When preparing dishes such as soups, sauces and stews, it is helpful to stir the contents regularly to ensure even heating. Low for 00:30-24:00 (HH:MM) We hope this information has been helpful. Please contact us if you need further assistance. They feel like I might "accidentally" adjust the temperature etc. Needless to say I am very, very disappointed with this program on the slow cooker. Control was snatched from my hands. They didn't consider that I might want/need to change the cooking level!
