I've never done nail extensions before (and maybe that's one of the reasons I'm so impressed with it, as I don't have anything quite like it). Anyway, I bought this set because 1. my homemade gel and acrylic nail polish takes a long time to dry (even with a drying lamp) and I'm tired of the stains on my nails because of it; and 2. My nail polish never lasts long no matter what brand or base/top coat I try (I work in a hospital so I wash my hands constantly). This kit DEFINITELY dries fast (almost instantly!) It's also a lot easier to get clean lines than regular nail polish and it lasts sooooo long (the nails in my photo were painted for 8 days). As other reviews have said if this is your first time doing your own nails I would definitely recommend watching a quick tutorial video before using it but overall the kit comes with great instructions and is really easy to use once you've got the hang of it. Very pretty color scheme (and from the looks of it, the Beetles brand also sells additional color palettes, which I definitely want to try). I've only used it twice but people have been asking me where I get my nails done! The only downsides (more to do with the dip nail application in general than the kit itself, to be honest): - The powder can get messy. Even if you run your fingernail directly over the container, some of the powder will still end up on the rest of the countertop. BUT I found an easy solution (thanks YouTube): just dip your nails on a piece of printer paper to collect the dust, and when you're done you can just pipe the powder off the paper back into the bin for easy cleaning. and save powder (it saved more powder than I expected!) - it can take a long time to smooth the powder layer before applying the top coat. Depending on how smoothly and quickly you dip in after applying the base coat, you may end up with uneven clumps and it can take a long time to smooth them out with a regular nail file before applying the top coat. The more I use this set the better I can apply it smoother and avoid big clumps, but sometimes I have to file the surface of the powder to make it look smoother. Another tip I saw on YouTube was to get an electric nail file to save time filing. I just ordered a cheap $12 power file from Walmart so we'll see if they make it faster. Anyway, I'm very impressed and very satisfied. I recommend this kit.
