It took me a long time to succumb to the "you need a wool ironing mat" hype. I regret nothing. I was about to sew some doll clothes for my granddaughter's Wellie Wishers and didn't want to leave the large ironing board behind while I sewed. Since I sewed little things, this wool rug was perfect. Attention: When you first heat it up, it stinks of sheep dung. It's pretty awful. I'm sensitive to smells, so maybe that doesn't sound so bad to someone else. Whatever you do, don't use steam for it. When you do, you will smell like wet, steaming sheep poop. It's wool, so it smells like barnyard. The smell seems to get better the hotter it gets unless you use steam. Then it's still very bad! Be warned! However, I'm glad I bought it and use it every time I make doll clothes. The silicone ironing stand was an added bonus!
