I work with raw polymer clay and find it necessary to separate the reeds to create designs. Some people say they can see the clay and cut "close enough", but since polymer clay can be expensive I find it quicker and easier to measure down the center every time than to miss the mark. This is a 12 inch ruler. They can measure up to 6 inches on each side. Most of my polymer clay projects don't exceed 12 inches total, so this ruler works great. This is a sturdy metal ruler - a good buy in my opinion.
