I am actually using this for a very unusual purpose. I grow bonsai and some of them have to overwinter in a small vinyl greenhouse. The greenhouse naturally maintains a temperature of just 4 degrees above the outside temperature. We've had a very cold season so far and it's only January! Finding a safe and cost-effective way to keep the greenhouse temperature above freezing was a challenge. This is a very humid environment, so the electronics must be sealed. Gas or propane is also not good. I found this and put it around a sealed 5 gallon bucket of water. The heated bucket constantly extracts enough heat for my trees to survive the winter. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the best I've found other than a serious greenhouse.
