This is what you need for a stuck and cracked filter housing

I bought a cheap OEM version of the filter housing tool and it broke the ribs on the plastic filter housing. Then I bought all the other oil filter wrenches that were in the auto parts store. I tried a hand wrench, a triangular self-tightening wrench, a two-sided self-tightening wrench with no teeth, they all broke. I even put screws in the filter housing to improve the hold and tried all of the above again and nothing was able to damage the housing. I broke down and got an equivalent OEM housing, but my filter housing was too exposed for even that to work. I'm glad I have this as a backup. It still wasn't easy, but with the right placement and leverage, this serrated product went in far enough to grab and finally release! I can't speak to traditional oil cartridges but if your plastic filter housing is stuck and/or broken then this is for you. Of course I replaced the destroyed plastic filter housing with an aluminum one and now, after two days of fighting, everything is back to normal. Save me my trouble and just start with this product by removing the plastic filter housing and then replacing it with a metal housing.

Pros

Cons
