The last Proctor Silex toaster I bought was a good product that has lasted over 10 years. It's a joke Cons: (using my previous toaster as a base) - thinner heating elements and probably less of them - hence longer toasting time - toast is toasted unevenly - toast doesn't get hot so butter or sour cream doesn't melt - flat wall - ok, the bread sticks to the top of the unit - you have to turn the latch knob if you want to manually eject the toast, which will lose your favorite setting - the toast has to be lifted to remove - this is no longer a one-handed operation - they're done with the crumb tray . It has been replaced with a hinged door at the bottom, so you have to carry the device to the trash can to empty the crumbs. Pros: - It turns on and makes a feeble attempt to make toast.
