Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Enhance Performance with Cardone 96-7058 New Power Steering Pump with Reservoir by Chris Sandridge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

50 year old Ford rocks like NEW

1972 F100 390 FE - Tried to restore the original but the original was too worn. Restoring the original is a complex project and although the block stopped leaking the pressure was around 7/10. With this Cardone unit installed, standard suspension steering is moved with a finger on the handlebars. Installation process: 1. Disconnect and remove the low pressure return line (90 degree rubber hose at the back). Use a tupperware or similar container as it will squirt out (mostly from the side of the pump. About 1/2 liter will squirt out. 2. Remove the high pressure hose (it has no pressure when not running) with a 3 wrench. Raise both hoses, 4. Loosen the top three mounting nuts, then loosen the side tension nut until you can remove the belt 5. Loosen the top nuts and remove the entire pump and bracket, you will need a tool ( Product Revain "OEMTOOLS 27031 Pulley Puller/Installer") at your local parts store 7. Once the pulley is removed, simply remove the 3 front screws and loosen the rear 8. After installing the bracket, replace the factory pulley the new pump. The kit includes the required part (screw the long screw into the pump shaft, and then turn two I with wrenches, b is the face of the pulley is flush with the top of the shaft. DO NOT push the pulley too far and DO NOT hit it).9. Now put it back in the car. Connect high and low pressure hoses. Tension the belt.10. To FLUSH, remove the low pressure hose and insert this hose into a 2 liter bottle. Connect the 90 degree return fitting to the pump. Add about 2/3 liters of ATF Type F (Ford uses ATF in the power steering). Then pull the coil off and have a friend turn the key for 1 second to get the starter motor to push the fluid out of the system. Add more ATF, run one cycle, and once you get 2 quarts through the system it flushes.11. Now in the new pump about 2/3 liters. Raise the front of the vehicle off the ground. Use jack stands under each side to slightly raise the wheels off the ground.12. Start the car and let it warm up to temperature for 5 minutes.13. Make sure the dipstick is firmly inserted into the pump. At medium speed, rotate the handlebars lock-to-lock 3 or 4 times to purge any remaining air from the lines.14. Check the fluid level on the dipstick and you're done. Pros: Silent operation. High pressure with excellent steering. Easy to install and the factory screws/brackets fit perfectly. difficult to remove. (That's good you) Thanks for reading, hope this helps.
