I was hoping for a slightly stronger signal by replacing the standard antennas on my Linksys EA 6900 router with the RE7000 Extender , no improvement in signal was measured at the expander, despite the much larger size. So for me it was of no benefit. I'm not sure under what conditions this would happen or if the active electronics would somehow need to detect a different antenna, but at least the Linksys EA6900 either already had better antennas or didn't know what to do with them.
