I bought this unit for $19.99 about a year ago and have never used another to compare it to. Pros: - Takes up very little space - Inexpensive (it's worth the $20 I paid) - Performs a vacuum seal if the bag has at least 2 factory edges. Cons: - The hose that comes with it is totally useless. The hose and fittings don't fit together tightly and form an airtight seal, and if you don't hold the hose pieces together firmly, they will simply fall apart. Because of this, it's impossible to vacuum anything with a hose, so you can only vacuum/seal a bag that fits the hole. For it to work, the package must be in perfect condition. I needed small pouches so I cut one of the pouches into 2 smaller pouches and made sure to seal the 3 edges of my new pouches. When it came time to vacuum/seal the little bags of contents, they never stopped vacuuming. No matter how perfectly I cut these bags (with a straight edge and a sharp razor blade) they will not vacuum/seal properly in this machine. You can only use factory sealed bags or rolls that have at least 2 factory sealed edges. The cable is quite short. If you have this on your kitchen counter where the outlets are on the same level, you're fine. I use this in my office where the outlets are close to the floor so I either have to put the car on the floor or use an extension cord. I don't use mine to eat, so I can't talk about it. . But for my purposes and my budget it's enough for me.
