Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best channel upgrade for your motorhome!

We recently bought a used (new to us) Class C van. As the previous owners have upgraded to a larger Class A they have kept most of the accessories such as hoses and cables. We did a lot of research on sewage hoses and systems before choosing Lippert. Even if we take a break from time to time and not full-time, it is still important to equip our motorhome with the highest quality components. I'm looking for products that will last a lifetime. It's also important to remember that when traveling in an RV, you don't have a lot of extra storage and room for redundancy, so bringing a backup isn't an option. I watched a few YouTube videos and saw the benefits. A smooth inner tube with a wire support on the outside facilitates flow through the tube. I really like the end valve as a fallback in case of problems at the landfill. The clear plastic on the valve body makes it easy to see when you've completely cleaned the tanks and pipes. I've seen reviews berating this product for doing this... but you should know this before you buy. This is the buyer's fault for not doing proper research. The videos and assembly instructions show you how to cut the tabs from a typical sewer fitting and glue a camlock adapter to it. Since our duct port is just behind our tire and pointing straight down, we were lucky that we had enough tubing to cut and replace the entire existing duct port rather than retrofitting it to the existing port by grinding and gluing it. Lippert glues directly to the thin-walled 3-inch ABS pipe commonly used in most homes. So if this is an option for you, I would recommend this. I am convinced of the advantages of CamLock for fittings over the thicker and twisted variety that is the standard. CamLock is an industry standard designed to withstand harsh environments. It stretches and folds easily. Easy to stow away when rolled up. With us it slips under the channel valves in our lower compartment. For those of you who keep your sewer pipe in a square tube bumper: THIS WON'T FIRE! The square end is firmly attached to the tube to prevent it from slipping into the bumper. For Class A and C people who keep their whistles in a compartment under the car, this works great as it's easy and efficient to stow away. and stretch it even if we had it on the Camco Sidewinder. We managed to keep it ok by clustering the Sidewinder closer to the RV, but that was when we were within 10 feet of our intersection. If we were further away, about 20 feet long Lippert, this would not be an option. To make it easier to connect and hold the Lippert tube up, I was able to find a 3" aluminum nock and grooved elbow on the Revain that I can now use to adjust the Lippert tube to exit parallel to the ground. This, of course, added another $75 to the cost of upgrading the sewer system. Overall I spent about $200 on this upgrade (with the knee). Is it worth? Yes for me. I know a few people who camp a lot during the season and seem to switch their Stinky Slinks a year or two. At $40 or $50 apiece I'd rather have one for life than throw away 4 or 5 before I get a return on my investment. I am also very confident that I will not experience black water spilling out of a ruptured pipe when attempting to drain it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
