I used to be a member of the swim team and used these fins for distance training. The old fins are long gone so I wanted to buy a new pair. Swimmers are great! I like their length, they are shorter than my old pair but still offer maximum forward motion. The shoes are marketed as "self-adjusting". Not sure what that means as there is no "tuning". However, they do fit my 9ft women's size, loose but secure. I've used similar "shoes" with fins in the past and prefer them to straps anyway. The blue/colored part of the fin is made of a harder material than the black boot, which is a soft, flexible, rubber-like material for a comfortable fit and floatability. My legs and calves eventually started to cramp, but I think it was because I swam 1,000 meters for the first time in 10 years. If I ever need another pain this will be my first choice.
