Ideal for BoB.: Binoculars and scopes

No one can deny that sometimes you need to be visually close without being physically close. The problem I had was that the bug bag was gaining more weight than it had capacity. I love my Leupold binoculars very much, but they do me no favors when it comes to razor ounces. For reference, my Leupold binoculars with case weigh 1 lb 10.1 oz or 742 grams. The SCOKC monocular with case weighs 4 ounces or 114 grams (they say 90 grams without the case). So I save 1lb 6oz by wearing this monocular compared to 'nocs. Whether this will perform as well in low light is of course physically impossible given the size of the aperture. But the optical quality for this size is amazing, I think it's very good. Sharp and with good color, and the relief is adjustable. Waterproof and anti-fog, which is very important for a survival scope. The case is also nice and durable, it appears to be aluminum but I haven't tested it. It makes a very high-quality impression, which matches its very, very good optical performance. Lens caps are also stored so you don't lose them and they can be easily removed for use. It even comes with a camera mount which I used and got some good shots but you need to hold the phone on something stable or it will shake too much due to the zoom level. Also, with a little push and prayer it barely fits in my phone as my phone (Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2) has a built in case and is a bit thicker than most phones. Therefore, such phone mounts can be problematic. It would be nice if the phone mount could hold a thicker phone (or maybe even a phone with a case?) but if you REALLY make it work you'll get a good zoom on your phone camera and pictures you can take. If you can hold it steady enough, pretty good. Apparently I won't be using the camera mount much. But that's just me. It's now a staple in my gear. I'm very close to the performance of the binoculars for the proportion of the weight they carry. Fantastic light gear that comes highly recommended.
