Upon opening the box I immediately found an extra potentiometer and a wire attached to it. For example, during the first test, which ran at the specified current limit, the entire power supply smelled as if it had burned out. The internal built-in small potentiometer burned out. with a spare pot and extra heatsinks on the outside of the frame where the really hot stuff gets attached with hot melt. We ran another test at the specified current limit and the new radiators dissipated the heat and I'm happy now. The original POT was 10K and the stock was only 4.7K but was obviously designed for higher power dissipation. It seemed to work the same with any POT value. AC power consumption during the first test was 600 watts. The second test was 460 watts.
