Review on πŸ–¨οΈ MP10 Mini 3D Printer by Monoprice by Jordan Rini

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not without flaws but great printer for the price

later (For the record I have about 7 3D printers. Robo 3D, Creality, Da Vinci Jr etc.) Wonderful little printer makes up great prints. Minimal assembly, printed instructions included, but you can also watch the official YouTube tutorial video for more information, assembly can take anywhere from half an hour to 45 minutes (or less if you are more experienced). The assisted bed leveling works great - exploring the bed in different places and making for a solid first layer. Note that you also need to set the global Z offset once, and that's not magical; it varies from printer to printer and you just have to do a test print, decide whether to raise or lower the extruder (if the filament seems to be pressed against the platform in the first layer, you need to raise the extruder a bit - if not right sticking, you should lower the extruder) and adjust until you get the first layer that sticks well. One was factory calibrated to the correct value, the other far from it. So far I've had fantastic impressions. It's not without its flaws, though - the screen is a beautifully clear, colorful touchpad (a welcome addition to other printers' monochrome panels), but it's also a bit finicky - sometimes unresponsive, causing you to have to press multiple times , before your input is registered. . Also pay attention to the global Z offset as sometimes the printer does not retain this value after power off. I also noticed that while I read in the official docs that you can adjust the offset DURING printing, I've had no luck - this only takes effect if you adjust the offset outside of print time. . One odd design decision is the location of the power button - it's kind of hidden between the bed frame and the outer frame, making it difficult for those with big hands to access it. All of these flaws are minor enough for me, considering the price, to keep my 5 star rating. The bed is removable, a nice addition to a feature I didn't even know existed until I tried it. It attaches with magnets so you can easily remove the bed, gently bend it until your print pops out, then snap it back into place. Don't quote me but I find that the hot end is easy to remove even with magnets. I do a lot of precision printing for robotics and so far this has been pretty accurate to make sure the holes are the right size. , dimensions match, etc. A few tips. First, buy a Raspberry Pi and an SD card and install Octoprint. This is a great little piece of software that allows you to remotely control your printer from any phone/tablet/pc connected to the same network as your Pi. You can even connect a webcam to the Pi and view your printouts in real time. I usually start typing from another room and just have to go to the printer room to get my finished print from the bed - very handy! Using this setting avoids touchscreen issues, and I've also heard (although I haven't tried) that connecting directly to a printer over Wi-Fi (without using Octoprint) causes errors, so Octoprint is great to circumvent this problem. Another tip: Aquanet hairspray has excellent adhesion. While your bed is warm, spritz on a very thin coat of hairspray. I've been using this technique for years and have never had to use tape or other materials to get my prints to stick well to the bed (sometimes they even stick too much when it becomes almost impossible to remove). bed without breaking them! Don't worry to remove the bed and bend it slightly, can easily remove all the prints). All in all a great little printer. I wish the build area was bigger, but for the price, you honestly can't beat it. It does have a few minor flaws, but if you can ignore them you're getting a great printer at a great price. Full color LCD touch screen, heated detachable magnetic bed, automatic bed leveling, fantastic print quality, quiet operation. I've got printers that are twice the price and don't even have half the features, so Monoprice did an incredible job of really putting a lot of good stuff into these little ones. I would love to buy an MP10 (not a mini but a large version) but the reviews seem to be a bit conflicting so I can't compare this mini version to the larger one but I can say I like my mp10 mini so much like that I decided to buy a second one. one and I'm about to dive for a third!
