This is the best programmable remote control I have ever used. It's easy to set up if you know how to use a computer. No need to enter codes for different devices. All you need to know is the manufacturer and model number of the audio/video device you intend to use. You connect the remote to your computer using the micro USB to USB cable on the front of the remote. The remote programming software is already integrated into the remote control. When you connect it to your computer, the programming screen will open automatically. It walks you through all the devices and how they are supposed to work. You don't have to use the receiver as the main device for all applications. For example. I have a 4K TV, but my receiver doesn't output 4K video, only 1080p. This is only an issue when watching 4K movies on a 4K/Blu-ray player as almost all the videos I stream are only 1080p. But with this remote, I can set the watch movie button (or other buttons of your choice) to connect the 4K/Blu-ray player's HDMI cable directly to my TV, bypassing the receiver so I can get 4K resolution on my TV. And since my TV has an optical audio out and my receiver has an optical audio in, I just programmed the sound from the TV through the optical audio out and straight into the receiver. This way I get 4K video AND full digital audio driven by the receiver, not the TV. It's a VERY unusual way to set up an audio/video system, but this remote handles it with ease. And when I want to watch regular cable TV, which is only 1080p, I programmed it (which would make sense) to connect the HDMI cable box directly to the receiver and the receiver's HDMI cable to another HDMI input on the TV connected is. . And the BEST part is that the remote makes all of these input and output changes with just the touch of a button. And if you know how to use a computer, then this is very handy software.
