The inner grinding discs of this set are ceramic painted white, which is said to serve as a selling point. However, on first use, the ceramic grinder in the salt mill shattered into pieces, rendering it unusable. Worse, it shards of pottery scattered throughout the interior of the salt shaker, rendering the remaining salt useless (unless you prefer to use shards of pottery in your salt). Eventually, with the failed coffee grinder literally smashed into tiny pieces, it was impossible to get it back without working on the ceramic parts. The danger here should be obvious. Avoid those cheap coffee grinders and buy something more expensive with steel gears.
