Due to the use of cheap plastic Aladdin 10 oz. Target containers that never kept food warm, leaked and lost small parts, this thermos is the bomb! It's like comparing fireworks (or a little thing that kids throw on the ground) to a nuclear bomb. I've ordered one for each kid that brings lunch to school and they work! All I ask of a thermos is that it keeps food warm for 3-4 hours, big enough to hold a decent amount of baby food, and that it doesn't leak. It delivers. I made my daughter a very healthy ramen noodle soup for lunch and she said it was too hot to eat after 4 hours. Both kids were very impressed with the retained heat and the built in spoon which I thought looked more like a notched spatula but my kids said it worked well. Great if you're running out of plastic spoons. They've only been in my house for 3 weeks so I can't say how long they will last but so far it's a miracle I've had them. wait.NOTES:1. When washing, disassemble ALL parts (even the rubber washer) and HAND WASH.2. Pour boiling water over each use and let it heat for 5-10 minutes while doing whatever you want to fill it. I haven't tried without this step, but it's recommended. This step, while tedious, helps especially with non-liquid dishes like Costco's delicious mini chicken tacos. PROS: - doesn't leak - keeps food hot for at least 4 hours - good size for elementary to middle school kids - universal navy color for any gender (or 386,492 current gender identities) - lid doubles as a bowl - feels cool on the outside - great price -value for money (when i bought it was $15.98) CONS: - a bit hard to open for small kids - spoon is a bit shallow - doesn't get clean after each use (ahem, college students) - doesn't fit a private chef
