I have two small dogs, one that is 11 pounds (tall legs, thin body with a broad chest but small neck) and one that is 16 pounds (a chiweanie) with a long body and short legs. I bought this one for my 11 pound dog and she was able to immediately to pull one leg out of it. I then tried it on my second dog and it fits perfectly! It is true to the recommendation that it is for Medium and Large dogs, not really small, even though there is a small size and that is what I purchased. My chiweanie has found it to be comfortable. It seems pretty sturdy/solid, yet I haven't used it much at this point.
