I bought this along with the Huepar Box-1G laser line in hopes that it would see the laser further than I could see the line on the road; That didn't happen. On a sunny day but in the shade of a large tree, the Box1G laser could be seen with the naked eye at about 10 feet away; this detector could only really see him at a distance of 9 or 8 feet. At shorter ranges this instrument works better, but at ranges around 20 feet (heavy cloud cover or near dusk) the laser starts to diffuse and this detector struggles. If this can be seen at 20 feet, the unaided eye can still see the laser at 25 feet (though not as clearly as at 10 feet). I've heard that the Box1G doesn't project well outdoors and was hoping it could "see" the laser even if I couldn't, but it didn't. Save your money and just take a laser level and use a marked rod, you don't need this detector.
